Mine Description
The Mudhole mine, a short distance southwest of Walker, was worked to some extent prior to 1897. Its production from 1897 to 1903 is reported to have been $480,000 in gold and silver. The property has been practically idle Since 1912.
This deposit, which appears to be mainly in dark magnetitic hornfels, near the Contact of the granodiorite stock, consists of two parallel veins, each 6 to 8 feet Wide. Workings include a 740-foot shaft, inclined at 47°, and a shaft and tunnel about 2,000 feet farther southwest. Bleached hornfels on the dump at this tunnel shows seams which contain galena and sphalerite with some chalcopyrite and pyrite. The ore is reported to have contained from $7 to $15 in gold and silver.
