Comment (Deposit): MANGANESE OXIDES DERIVED FROM WEATHERING OF THE CHERT OCCUR ONLY IN THE UPPERMOST PORTIONS OF THE FORMATION, USUALLY 30 FEET FROM THE SURFACE. BELOW THAT, MANGANESE OCCURS AS RHODONITE AND BEMENTITE.
