Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Commodity): MOLYBDENUM, COBALT, GERMANIUM, NICKEL AND THORIUM HAVE BEEN REPORTED IN MORE THAN ORDINARY TRACE-ELEMENT AMOUNTS (ELSTON, 1967; KING, 1965; MCLEMORE, 1983).

Comment (Development): IN 1979 THE USBLM SUSPENDED ACTION ON THE LEASE RENEWAL UNTIL A NEW ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS REPORT COULD BE PREPARED.

Comment (Deposit): THE DEPOSIT OCCURS IN THE ESPINOSA VOLCANICS WHERE THE FORMATION HAS BEEN INTRUDED BY A NEARLY VERTICAL LIMBURGITE DIKE ALONG A NORTH-TRENDING FAULT. THE ORE IS FOUND IN A COMPLEX NETWORK OF THIN SULFIDE-MINERAL VEINS IN THE MAFIC DIKE AND AN IMPREGNATION OF FINE-GRAINED SULFIDE MINERALS IN THE BRECCIATED FOOTWALL OF THE DIKE, WHERE IT IS ALTERED TO CLAY. LUSTIG DESCRIBED 23 MINERALS FROM THE DEPOSIT (CHENOWETH, 1979).

Comment (Workings): WORKINGS CONSIST OF AN 170-FT SHAFT WITH DRIFTS AND CROSSCUTS AT THE 140 AND 170-FOOT LEVELS. THERE IS A RAISE TO THE 140-FT. LEVEL. IN 1963 THE SANTA FE RIVER WAS DAMMED TO ALLOW OPEN-PIT OPERATIONS BELOW STREMBED LEVEL. THERE ARE ALSO SEVERAL DRILLHOLES OVER MUCH OF THE PROPERTY.

Comment (Location): LOCATION IS ACCURATE FOR THE SHAFT SHOWN ON THE TETILLA PEAK QUADRANGLE. ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :(1979)
