Comments

Comment (Deposit): GENERALLY SOUTH-DIPPING HERMOSA FM LIMESTONE, SANDSTONE, AND SHALE COVERED BY EXTENSIVE LANDSLIDES BUT BELOW ARE CUT BY NW-TRENDING BLACKHAWK FAULT, DOWNTHROWN ON NE. NEAR CREBEC SHAFT, SW-DIPPING BLANKET REPLACEMENTS REST ON HARD, FINE-GRAINED SHATTERED SANDSTONE AND OVERLAIN BY SHATTERED GRAY SHALE. BLANKET COMPOSITION VARIES FROM (1) 4-FT-THICK MASS OF CELLULAR OR LOOSELY COHERING LIMONISTE WITH FRAGMENTS OF SANDSTONE AND ALTERED LIMESTONE TO (2) YELLOW, CLAYEY MATERIAL CONTAINING STREAK OF ARGENTIFEROUS OCHEROUS MATERIAL AND UPPER BAND OF PB SULFATE. MASSIVE PYRITE LENSES OCCUR IN SERVERAL SANDSTONE AND SHALE HORIZONS ABOVE BLANKET, SOME SEPARATED BY SEVERAL INCHES OF CRUSHED SHALE. ONE LARGE MASS OVER 40 FT THICK OCCURRED 50 FT ABOVE MAIN BLANKET AND CONSISTED OF THREE FLAT BODIES SEPARATED BY SHALE LAYERS.

Comment (Workings): CHC SHAFT INACCESSIBLE, DEPTH UNKNOWN; CHC TUNNEL LOCATED ABOUT 100 FT DOWN HILL AND DRIVEN GENERALLY EAST. EXTENT UNKNOWN. EXTENT UNKNOWN FOR LIMESTONE TUNNEL. CREBEC SHAFT 265 FT DEEP. PRINCETON TUNNEL DRIVEN N 61 E FOR ABOUT 400 FT, WITH AT LEAST ONE DRIFT SE TO CREBEC SHAFT.

Comment (Location): (LAND STATUS AND ADMINISTRATIVE AREA LOCATIONS CALCULATED USING GIS OVERLAY ANALYSIS FOR SAN JUAN N. F.). ON WEST SLOPE OF CHC HILL (UNSURVEYED SECTION). ELEV AND LAT-LONG GIVEN ARE FOR C.H.C. ADIT AND ARE FROM MCKNIGHT, 1974, PL.1 (1930 BASE). ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :1975

Comment (Development): CARPENTER LOCATED CLAIM ON WEST SLOPE OF HILL BUT ATTEMPT TO SINK SHAFT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL DUE TO MOVEMENT OF LANDSLIDE. RELOCATED SITE PROVED SUCCESSFUL AND C.H.C. BECAME ONE OF FIRST PRODUCERS IN AREA.
