Comment (Development): EARLY MINING DONE BY PANNING AND SLUICING. OMAHA GROUP PURCHASED MARSHALL PLACER (EXACT LOCATION UNCERTAIN) AND INSTALLED HYDRAULIC PLANT IN 1897. PATENTED CLAIMS SURVEYED IN 1902 BY GOLD RUN PLACER MINING CO. IN 1932-1933 PLACERING BY C.H. STARR AND GEORGE GILMORE AND THEIR SONS LED TO DISCOVERY OF RED ARROW LODE ON HILLSIDE JUST UP GOLD RUN CREEK.

Comment (Deposit): PLACER AU DERIVED FROM ERODED PORTIONS OF EXPOSED VEINS IN HEADWATERS OF RIVER AND ITS TRIBUTARIES. PLACERS IN AREA GENERALLY WERE OF LOW GRADE BECAUSE (1) MUCH PRIMARY AU IS TELLURIDE, RELATIVELY LIGHT, EASILY BROKEN DOWN INTO FINE PARTICLES, (2) CHEMICAL WEATHERING PRODUCES "MUSTARD" AU THAT CAN BE CARRIED GREATER DISTANCES, (3) ERRATIC CONCENTRATIONS IN SMALL POCKETS IN WIDE VALLEYS SCOURED BY GLACIATION.
