Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Workings): WORKINGS CONSIST OF AN INCLINE AND SEVERAL SHALLOW SURFACE PITS. THE INCLINE SLOPES DOWN AT ABOUT 40 DEGREES AND TRENDS N 80 W, AND IS REPORTED TO BE 60 FEET DEEP.

Comment (Development): BERYL WAS FOUND IN FLOAT DOWNSLOPE FROM THE DEPOSIT LOCATION

Comment (Production): FLUORITE PRODUCTION IS REPORTED AS "SEVERAL HUNDRED POUNDS OF PURPLE FLUORITE", (JAHNS, 1946 AND REDMON, 1961).

Comment (Deposit): THE SUNNYSIDE IS UNUSUAL IN THAT THE BERYL-MICA CONCENTRATIONS OCCUR IN THE MICA-SCHIST RATHER THAN IN THE PEGMATITE. THE STRIKE AND DIP ARE FROM SEVERLY CRUMPLED FOLIATED SCHIST.

Comment (Geology): THE DEPOSIT OCCURS IN THE PETACA SCHIST MEMBER OF THE ORTEGA QUARTZITE.

Comment (Location): LOCATION IS ACCURATE FOR THE SUNNYSIDE SHAFT. ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :1979
