Comment (Deposit): NELSON AND RIESMEYER (1983) DESCRIBE DEPOSIT AS AU-BEARING PYRITE-ARSENOPYRITE-MAGNETITE-BEARING CHERT AND AU-BEARING GARNET-CHLORITE-HORNBLENDE-MAGNETITE SCHIST. DEPOSIT IS THOUGHT TO REPRESENT FERRUGINOUS CHEMICAL/CLASTIC SEDIMENT FORMED IN SHALLOW BASIN DEVELOPED IN BASALTIC ROCKS. CHERT LAYER TRENDS ENE-WSW AND LIES ON NORTH LIMB OF CHAMPION SYNFORM, WHICH IS CUT AND DISPLACED BY THREE NW-TRENDING FAULTS. DROBECK (1981) DESCRIBES CHERT LAYER AS LYING NEAR CONTACT BETWEEN METASEDIMENTS ON NORTH AND METAVOLCANICS ON SOUTH AND ASSOCIATED WITH A THINNED PORTION OF KOMATIITE FLOW. NO MASSIVE SULFIDE WAS FOUND IN DEEPLY WEATHERED GARNET- (ALMANDITE-) BEARING BIOTITE SILTSTONE ON STRATIGRAPHIC FOOTWALL. DISSEMINATED PYRITE AND CHALCOPYRITE WERE FOUND IN REMOBILIZED QUARTZ VEINS WITHIN CHERT LAYER. CHERT AND REMOBILIZED QUARTZ CONTAIN ANOMALOUS AU, SE, AND TE.
