Comments

Comment (Location): DISTRICT LOCATED ALONG CEBOLLA CREEK BETWEEN WHITE EARTH DISTRICT (TO NORTH) AND GUNNISON-HINSDALE COUNTY LINE (ON SOUTH). INCLUDES LOWER PARTS OF RUDOLPH GULCH, MUD GULCH, SWINEHART GULCH, CRYSTAL CREEK, AND WATER GULCH. PROMINENT LANDMARKS INCLUDE MILLER HILL, SWINEHART RIDGE, POLEPATCH HILL, FISH CANYON RIDGE, AND HIDDEN LAKE. DISTRICT ACCESSIBLE VIA COLORADO RTE 149 FROM U.S. RTE 50 AND BLUE MESA RESERVOIRSW TO POWDERHORN AND VIA ROAD SOUTH FROM COLORADO RTE 149 THROUGH POWDERHORN AND UP CEBOLLA CREEK; VIA ROAD NE FROM LAKE CITY AND LAKE SAN CRISTOBAL, OVER SLUMGULLION PASS, AND DOWN CEBOLLA CREEK THROUGH CATHEDRAL; VIA ROAD FROM COLORADO RTE 114 AND COCHETOPA CREEK SW UP LOS PINOS CREEK, OVER LOS PINOS PASS TO CEBOLLA CREEK AND CATHEDRAL. SECTIONS LISTED INCLUDE THOSE CONTAINING PATENTED CLAIMS AND THOSE COVERING PROSPECTED AREA OF METAGABBRO. ELEV AND LAT-LONG GIVEN ARE FOR INTERSECTION OF PATENTED CLAIM (MS14716) AND SECTION LINE (SEC. 35, T46N, R2W AND SEC. 02, T45N, R2W) ON

Comment (Workings): PROPERTIES EXPLORED BY SURFACE PROSPECTS AND BY SEVERAL SHAFTS OF UNKNOWN DEPTH.

Comment (Deposit): APPARENTLY ONLY TWO PATENTED CLAIMS ASSIGNED TO DISTRICT. NO INDIVIDUAL RECORDS PREPARED DUE TO LACK OF DESCRIBED PROPERTIES. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT

Comment (Location): RIDGE BETWEEN CEBOLLA CREEK AND RUDOLPH GULCH, 6.5 MILES SSE OF POWDERHORN. ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :1976

Comment (Development): HISTORY OF DISTRICT LARGELY UNKNOWN. CASHIER AND RAINBOW CLAIMS SURVEYED IN 1901 AND PATENTED IN 1903 BY HENRY RUDOLPH.

Comment (Deposit): LARGE BODY OF METAGABBRO COVERS ABOUT 4 SQ MI; FOLIATION TRENDS VARIABLE NE-SW TO NORTH-SOUTH, MOSTLY VERTICAL DIPS. METAGABBRO CONTAINS SEVERAL TABULAR BODIES OF DIORITE-GABBRO ROCK OF DIFFERENT COMPOSITION AND TEXTURE THAN METAGABBRO. LOCALLY INTRUDING NW AND SE MARGINS OF METAGABBRO ARE TWO LINEAR BODIES OF GNEISSIC QUARTZ DIORITE 500 TO 1500 FT WIDE IN PLAN. BEYOND QUARTZ DIORITE, POWDERHORN GRANITE INTRUDES, WITH SEVERAL SMALL BODIES WITHIN METAGABBRO. ON WEST, FAULTS DISPLACE METAGABBRO AGAINST GRANITE. AREAS EAST AND SW OF METAGABBRO COVERED BY OLIGOCENE TUFFS. VEINS, QUARTZ VEINS, AND TRACHYTE DIKES INTRUDE METAGABRRO GENERALLY ALONG FOLIATION, BUT SOME CUT FOLIATION AT HIGH ANGLES. DIP OF VEINS MEASURED AT 44 TO 85 DEG. MOST VEINS HAVE BEEN PROSPECTED. ORIGIN OF MINERALIZATION UNCERTAIN BUT COULD BE (1) REMOBILIZATION OF SUBMARINE MASSIVE SULFIDES DEPOSITED IN GABBRO SEQUENCE, OR (2) LATE-STAGE HYDROTHERMAL VEIN DEPOSITS ASSOCIATED WITH EMPLACEMENT OF LATE PRECAMBRIAN TO

Comment (Deposit): CAMBRIAN IRON HILL ALKALIC COMPLEX IN WHITE EARTH DISTRICT TO NORTH.

Comment (Commodity): COMMODITIES AND ORE MINERALS LISTED ABOVE NOT VERIFIED BUT INFERRED ON BASIS OF MINERALIZATION IN ADJACENT AREAS.
