Comments

Comment (Geology): CRESCENT FISSURE ZONE STRIKES NORTHEAST, DIPS SOUTHEAST, IS NORMAL, AND HAS A DISPLACEMENT OF ABOUT 1500 FT. CRESCENT ZONE COMPRISED OF FAULTS, FISSURES AND DIKES WITH NUMEROUS SUBSIDIARY HANGING WALL SPLAYS

Comment (Location): INFO FROM LAND.ST :1983

Comment (Production): REPORTED PRODUCTION IS FOR ALL OF KEARNS-KEITH MINE, NO EARLY RECORDS OF WALKER & WEBSTER MINE

Comment (Development): CLAIMS LOCATED BY RUFUS WALKER AND ORE DISCOVERED BY EPHRAIM HANKS IN 1869. ORE SHIPPED FROM 1870 TO 1875. CONSOLIDATED IN 1882 WITH CLIMAX, REBELLION, PINON, AND BUCKEYE MINES UNDER THE NAME CRESCENT. CRESCENT MINE ACTIVE UNTIL 1891. IN 1903 ALL MINES IN THE CRESCENT FISSURE AREA WERE CONSOLIDATED TO FORM THE KEARNS-KEITH MINE. NEW DEVELOPMENT THROUGH THE HANAUER TUNNEL WAS STARTED SHORTLY AFTER 1903. PROPERTY WAS CONSOLIDATED WITH THE SILVER KING COALITION CO. IN 1908. LATER CONSOLIDATION WITH UNITED PARK CITY MINES IN 1953

Comment (Deposit): ORE FIRST DISCOVERED ON PROPERTY WAS REPLACEMENT ORE IN THE THAYNES FORMATION AT THE FOOTWALL OF THE CRESCENT FISSURE ZONE. LATER WORKINGS DEVELOPED MAINLY REPLACEMENT TYPE ORES IN THE THAYNES AND PARK CITY FORMATIONS. REPLACEMENT ORE WITHIN 150 FT OF THE CRESCENT FAULT ZONE. REPLACEMENT ORES HOSTED BY PURE LIMESTONE LENSES BETWEEN SANDSTONES OR IMPURE LIMESTONES, JENNY BED AT THE PARK CITY FORMATION PRODUCED THE MOST ORE. VEIN ORE BODIES LOCATED IN SHOOTS ALONG THE CRESCENT FISSURE ZONE

Comment (Workings): THE HANAUER TUNNEL IS THE MAIN WORK TUNNEL OF THE KEARNS-KEITH MINE, AT THE 1600 FT LEVEL. IT EXTENDS 2000 FT WSW THEN TURNS SW AND EXTENDS AN ADDITIONAL 1500 FT
