Comments

Comment (Location): Saratoga area divided into a northern and southern part. There are two clusters of small prospects, the northern one is in T18N, R84W and is Redox; the southern cluster in T16N, R83 and 84W, is "desert evaporite" type. (See Gregory and others, 2010, MS-94).

Comment (Production): There are no known productive mines in this area.

Comment (General): Quoted from TEI-440, p. 179: "South of Saratoga, on a high tableland area, mineralizsation is present in many prospect pits and on natural exposures of the North Park formation. The North Park formations consists of several hundred feet of non-marine tuffaceous light-colord rocks, chiefly sandstone with abundant glass shards. Uranium minerals were seen in sections 7, 18, 19, T16N, R83W, and sections 13, 14, and 15,T16N, R84W. Uranium minerals likewise occur in alluvial gravel and clay that overlie the bedrock. Yellow coating on the under sides of pebbles in the alluvium is very common and the minerals are typically associated with caliche-like deposits of calcium carbonate and gypsum."
