Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Mine Description

The Lincoln mine is 2 miles north-northeast of Crown King, at an elevation of about 7,000 feet. It was worked in 1902 and from 1905 to 1908, with a reported production of $135,000 from 10,000 tones of ore. It was equipped with a 15-stamp amalgamation-concentration mill.

The vein which occurs in schist near the granite contact contains tourmaline and, near the vein, shows alteration to sericite and ankeritic carbonates. According to a local report, the ore occurs in a northward-pitching shoot 400 feet long by 5 to 6 feet wide. It consists of drusy quartz and ankerite with pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, galena, and tetrahedrite. The concentrates are reported to have contained 15 percent of copper, one to 4 ounces of gold, and 10 to 24 ounces of silver per ton.

Workings include two tunnels and an old 115-foot shaft.
