Comment (Production): MINE WORKED FOR A SHORT TIME IN 1918 AND 700 TONS OF ORE SAID TO HAVE BEEN SHIPPED, THE GRADE AVERAGING BETTER THAN 45 % MANGANESE. MOST OF THE ORE VISIBLE IN 1942 CONTAINED ABOUT 25% MANGANESE BUT A SMALL AMOUNT WAS ESTIMATED AT 45%.

Comment (Geology): ORE HOSTED IN FRANCISCAN COMPLEX - L. TO L. ; GEOL.DESC: BED OF MANGANESE OXIDES, THICKNESS OF 4 FT. WAS MORE OR LESS CONTINUOUS TO A DEPTH OF AT LEAST 40 FT. HANGING WALL APPARENTLY A FAULT WITH SANDSTONE BROUGHT AGAINST ORE; FOOTWALL IS WHITE CHERT. SOME RHODOCHROSITE WAS MINED. CARBONATE ORE IS MORE OR LESS COMPLETELY OXIDIZED.
