Comment (Deposit): PRODUCTION OF COPPER LESS THAN 100,000 LBS. - DOM BULL. 144, P. 216. THE HOLDINGS INCLUDE THE SOUTHERLAND, OAKS AND PACIFIC, SIMPSON AND ADEN, REESE, PHOENIX EAST, PLYMOUTH, PHOENIX MILL SITE, REESE AND WOOLFORD, FRACTIONS OF THE INDIANA, RISING STAR, CONVILLE AND LODE CLAIM 5181, THE BETA CLAIM AND 22.77 ACRES OF OTHER LAND, A TOTAL OF 126.3 ACRES ALL IN SEC. 11. MOST OF THE ORE WAS PRODUCED UNDER THE SIMPSON AND ADEN AND OAKS CLAIMS THIS IS THE MOST NORTHERLY MAJOR GOLD MINE ON THE MOTHER LODE.

Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: THREE PARALLEL VEIN SYSTEMS; SLATE ON BOTH WALLS USUALLY ACCOMPANIED BY BLACK GOUGE. PRINCIPAL MINE CONSISTS OF A LARGE CHIMNEY OF RIBBON QUARTZ 30 TO 50 FT. THICK AND 350 TO 400 FT. LONG.

Comment (Production): CLAIMS ORIGINALLY LOCATED IN 1852 AND WORKED SEPARATELY UNTIL CONSOLIDATION IN 1883 UNDER NAME OF PLYMOUTH CONS. MNG. CO. MINE IDLE 1892-1911. LITTLE WORK BETWEEN 1928-1939 EXCEPT THE TREATMENT OF THE TAILINGS AND SOME EXPLORATION, THE LATTER SHUT DOWN IN 1943. THE EMPIRE WORKINGS REOPENED IN 1946 BUT CEASED WORK IN EARLY 1947. TOTAL PRODUCTION IS ESTIMATED IN EXCESS OF $13,500,000. THE EMPIRE AND PACIFIC LOCATIONS ARE SHOWN ON USGS QUAD. SUTTER CREEK, CALIF. 1957, 1962. THE 1957 ED. ALSO SHOWS A DREDGED AREA E & S OF THE PACIFIC SHAFT
