Comments

Comment (Location): LOCATED IN SW 1/4 SECTION 28; LATITUDE-LONGITUDE VALUES CALCULATED FROM TOWNSHIP, RANGE, SECTION.

Comment (Production): DEVELOPED BY M. VONSEN DURING WWI BUT NO SHIPMENTS WERE MADE. IDLE AND PIT IS NEARLY FILLED WITH MATERIAL BULLDOZED FROM A NEARBY TRAIL.

Comment (Workings): PIT ABOUT 30 FT. IN DIAMETER.

Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: ORE BODY LIES PARALLEL TO ENCLOSING CHERT, STRIKES N 25 E, DIPPING 60 SE. THE HANGING WALL IS SOFT BROWN IRON STAINED CHERT AND THE FOOTWALL IS COVERED BY ALLUVIUM. THE ORE BODY IS 15 FT. THICK, AND IS GRAY AND PINK CARBONATE WITH A PROGRESSIVE SILICA CONTENT TOWARD THE FOOTWALL. QUARTZ VEINS CUT THE ORE, AND MASSES OF PYRITE AND SPECKS OF CINNABAR ARE PRESENT. A SMALL AMOUNT OF OXIDE IS FOUND ALONG HANGING WALL.

Comment (Deposit): THE PROPORTION OF SILICA IS SO HIGH THAT THE PRODUCTION OF MANGANESE ORE SEEMS UNLIKELY.

Comment (Deposit): Discovery Year: WWI
