Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: BED OF MANGANESE ORE IS ENCLOSED IN HIGHLY QUARTZOSE QUARTZ-MICA SCHIST, WHICH STRIKES N 45 W AND DIPS 60 SW AT TOP OF SHAFT. DIP IS VERTICAL AT SHAFT BOTTOM. GOUGE ZONE LYING PARALLEL TO ORE BODY IS EVIDENCE OF FAULTING. ORE IS PARTLY OXIDIZED RHODONITE. INDIVIDUAL CRYSTALS REACH UP TO 3 INCHES IN DIAMETER. ZONES OF RHODONITE ALTERNATE WITH BLACK OXIDE ORE.
