Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: BANDED QUARTZITE (PROBABLY METACHERT) IS CUT BY QUARTZ VEINS UP TO 6 INCHES THICK. MANGANESE STAINS OCCUR ALONG FRACTURES, AND A 1 FT. THICK ZONE IS PARTIALLY PENETRATED BY MANGANESE OXIDES. QUARTZITE IS ENCLOSED IN QUARTZ MICA SCHIST WHICH STRIKES N 65 W AND DIPS 60 N. E. A SERPENTINE BELT LIES TO THE N. E. 1/2 MI. W. GREEN META VOLCANICS CONTAIN MANGANESE OXIDE STAINS ALONG FRACTURES. ROCKS STRIKE N 40 W AND DIP 70 N. E.
