Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Geology): METAMORPHOSED, THINLY BEDDED SEDIMENTARY ROCKS DIP VERTICALLY

Comment (Deposit): J. QUADE TOOK NBMG SAMPLES 3777, 3778. MRDS DRAFT RECORD BY J. TAYLOR FOR J. TINGLEY (NBMG), DATED 89 09, APPARENTLY NEVER ENTERED. SATOSKI AND OTHERS STATE THAT RESERVATION HILL "MAY BE" IN THE SAME AREA AS SCHRADER'S BENWAY DISTRICT, YET SATKOSKI DID NOT FIND MINERALS LIKE CERARGYRITE MENTIONED BY SCHRADER. THE BENWAY DISTRICT IS NE OF RESERVATION HILL ( SEE MRDS RECORD FOR AFTERTHOUGHT). THEREFORE, ANY DISCUSSION OF SCHRADER'S BENWAY DATA ARE NOT MENTIONED IN THIS RESERVATION HILL RECORD. THIS RECORD IS CONSTRUCTED FROM DIRECT SITE OBSERVATIONS AT RESERVATION HILL BY SATKOSKI AND OTHERS, AND QUADE. NO EVIDENCE OF PROSPECTS IN SECTION 2, T13N, R27W (SATKOSKI, P156), SO SECTION 1 PROBABLY CORRECT.

Comment (Deposit): THIS RECORD INCLUDES INFORMATION FROM MRDS RECORD #M035029, WHICH HAS BEEN DELETED

Comment (Deposit): "BUT MORE LIKELY IS RELATED TO GEOTHERMAL CELLS ASSOCIATED WITH BASIN RANGE FAULTING." QUOTES AND INFORMATION ALL FROM SATKOSKI AND OTHERS, 1985.

Comment (Location): AT THE NE FOOT OF THE WASSUK RANGE, 1 MILE NW OF WHITE MOUNTAIN, ADJACENT TO A DIRT RD. UTM FROM JACK QUADE'S SITE VISIT TO RESERVATION HILL PROSPECTS (IN UNPUB. TINGLEY FILES). SEE GENERAL COMMENTS FOR FURTHER CLARIFICATION OF LOCATION.

Comment (Workings): 6 SHAFTS, 7 ADITS, NUMEROUS PROSPECTS (QUADE); 42 PITS, 2 ADITS, 4 SHAFTS (SATKOSKI)

Comment (Development): PART OF AREA JUST OUTSIDE RESERVATION BOUNDARY IS PATENTED ; ECON.COM: SATKOSKI RATES ECONOMIC POTENTIAL AS LOW. HE INDICATES TYPE 3 CONTACT HAS RECEIVED LEAST ATTENTION AND THEREFORE MAY WARRANT MOST INTEREST.

Comment (Deposit): 3 TYPES OF MINERALIZATION, FROM OLDEST TO YOUNGEST ARE DESCRIBED BY SATKOSKI: (1) CONTACT METASOMATIC WITH E-W, EN ECHELON QUARTZ-VEIN-FILLED SHEAR ZONES THAT DIP 40N; (2) N-S TO NW VEINS AND BRECCIAS ASSOCIATED WITH APLITE OR LATITE DIKES; (3) METALLIFEROUS, UNCONFORMABLE CONTACT BETWEEN TERTIARY TUFF AND TRIASSIC METASEDIMENTARY ROCKS. SATKOSKI POSTULATES THAT MAGNETITE IN TYPE 1 IS CRETACEOUS OR OLDER. TYPE 2 VEINS FILL WALKER LANE TYPE STUCTURES AND HAVE BEEN SUBJECTED TO SEVERAL PERIODS OF MOVEMENT. SHEAR ZONES FILLED BY TYPE 2 VEINS HAVE BEEN BRECCIATED, INTRUDED BY LATITE (?) DIKES, THEN BRECCIATED AGAIN. VEINS ARE UP TO SEVERAL INCHES THICK IN INDIVIDUAL SHEAR ZONES THAT ARE A FEW FEET TO TENS OF FEET WIDE. THE SHEAR ZONES ARE COLLECTIVELY UP TO SEVERAL HUNDRED FEET THICK. TYPE 2 VEINS "ARE PROBABLY YOUNGER THAN 30 MYBP." "METALLIZED FLUIDS" MAY HAVE MIGRATED ALONG THE TYPE 3 CONTACT AFTER THE TUFF DEPOSITION (AFTER 30 MYBP). TYPE 3 MAY BE RELATED TO WALKER LANE FAULTS,
