Comment (Deposit): SULFUR OCCURS AS DISSEMINATED GRAIN, PREFERENTIAL REPLACEMENT OF CONGLOMERATE MATRIX, IRREGULAR VEINS AND MASSES, -AND COATINGS ON FRACTURE SURFACES. MERCURY IS PRESENT IN SOME -OF THE MATERIAL, AS IS SILVER. IN THE BIG PIT, ALL ROCKS ARE M-ODERATELY TO STRONGLY ALTERED, BUT CONGLOMERATE CLASTS ARE COM-MONLY RECOGNIZABLE. MUCH OF THE ROCK CONTAINS LITTLE OR NO SUL-FUR. SULFUR IS CONCENTRATED IN 3 OR 4 IRREGULAR AREAS UP TO 20- FT ACROSS WHERE IT MAKES UP PERHAPS ONE-FIFTH OF THE ROCK. WI-THIN THESE AREAS SOME SMALL BODIES ARE QUITE PURE. MOST STRING-ERS OF SULFUR ARE SEMI-HORIZONTAL, PROBABLY REFLECTING BEDDING- ATTITUDE WHICH OTHERWISE IS NOT VISIBLE.
