Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Deposit): RHYOLITE TUFFS, TUFFACEOUS SEDIMENTS AND FLOWS, ANDESITIC FLOWS AND BRECCIAS INTRUDED BY RHYOLITE PLUGS. MINERALIZATION OCCURS AS QUARTZ VEINS ALONG NE- AND NW-TRENDING FRACTURES. SHAFT WAS SUNK ON A N20W, 75 SW SHEAR ZONE-SILICIFIED RUBBLE ZONE WITH RUBBLE CONSISTING OF ROUNDED FRAGMENTS OF DARK FINE-GRAINED SILICA IN MATRIX OF SERICITE. ROCK IS ARGILLIZED ALONG STRUCTURE, RESEMBLING THE ALTERATION ALONG A HOT SPRING CONDUIT. BASIN SURROUNDING OLD MINE APPEARS TO BE BLEACHED AND ARGILLICALLY ALTERED, WITH ALTERATION CONFINED BELOW A FLOW BOUNDARY LOCATED ABOUT HALF-WAY UP THE BASIN WALL. LARGEST WORKINGS IN THE DISTRICT ARE ALONG THE N20W-N70E STRUCTURES, ALTHOUGH OTHERS HAVE BEEN PROSPECTED. LARGE AMOUNTS OF HYDROTHERMAL BRECCIA CAN BE SEEN ON THE DUMPS APPEARING TO FOLLOW MAJOR STRUCTURES.

Comment (Workings): VERTICAL SHAFT, STOPES, DRIFTS, PROSPECT PITS, MANY SHAFTS.

Comment (Location): UTM TAKEN AT ONE OF SHAFTS

Comment (Development): IN 1984 THERE WAS EVIDENCE OF RECENT SURFACE EXPLORATION INCLUDING SHALLOW ROTARY DRILLING AND NEW 2 WK OLD CLAIM STAKES. IN 1985, SANTA FE WAS ACTIVELY PROSPECTING AND DRILLING THE PROPERTY.

Comment (Deposit): WORKINGS CONSIST OF SEVERAL PITS, SHALLOW SHTS, AND ADITS ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT; 3 FIELD OBSERV

Comment (Geology): GOLD DEPOSITS ARE IN FAULTED LIGHT-COLORED RHYOLITES A SEMI-WELDED TUFFACEOUS RHYOLITES; SMALL QUARTZ VEINS AND SILICEOUS STRINGERS ALG IRON-STAINED JOINTS AND CREVICES.
