Comment (Deposit): THE MOST NORTHERN GULCH OF THE FIVE GULCHES KNOWN TO CARRY PLACER GOLD. THE PLACERITES DISTRICT FIRST WORKED IN THE EARLY 1870'S. IN 1890'S PLACER MINERS HAULED GRAVEL TO RABBIT HOLE SPRING. DEPOSITS NOT WORKED AGAIN TILL AFTER 1928 AND THEN INTERMITTENTLY SINCE THEN. NUMEROUS PITS, CUTS, AND TRENCHES CAN STILL BE SEEN IN THE AREA. ONE TRENCH (1969) IS 1000 FEET LONG, 25 FT. WIDE AND MOSTLY 6 TO 10 FEET DEEP, DEEPEST PART IS 25 FEET. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT; 3 FIELD OBSERV

Comment (Development): GRAVELS HAULED TO RABBIT HOLE SPRING TO WORK IN 1890'S. DEPOSITS WERE NOT WORKED AGAIN UNTIL 1928, AND SPORADICALLY SINCE THEN. IN 1984, WORTH, INC. OF SAN DIEGO, CA HAD A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF EQUIPMENT AND SOME PEOPLE ON THE SITE, BUT MINI-NG WAS DELAYED PENDING DEVELOPMENT OF ADDITIONAL WATER RESOURC-ES. PROPERTY IS LISTED AS AN ACTIVE GOLD MINING AND MILLING OP-ERATION IN 1984 EMPLOYING 3 PERSONS.

Comment (Geology): PLACER GRAVELS WORKED IN SMALL SHALLOW RAVINES WERE 18 INCHES TO 6 FT. THICK OVERLYING BEDROCK OF SLATES & SHALES. GOLD IS COARSE, 730 TO 900 FINENESS.
