Comment (Development): IN 1890'S GRAVEL WAS HAULED TO RABBIT HOLE SPRINGS TO BE WORKED. DEPOSITS WERE NOT WORKED AGAIN UNTIL AFTER 1928, SINCE WHICH THEY HAVE BEEN INTERMITTENTLY MINED TO PRESENT.. IN 1984, WORTH, INC. OF SAN DIEGO HAD A LARGE AMOUNT OF EQUIPMENT AND SOME PEOPLE ON THE SITE, BUT MINING WAS DE-LAYED PENDING DEVELOPMENT OF ADDITIONAL WATER RESOURCES. PROPE-RTY IS LISTED AS AN ACTIVE GOLD MINING AND MILLING OPERATION I-N 1984, EMPLOYING 3 PERSONS

Comment (Geology): PLACER GRAVELS WORKED IN SMALL SHALLOW RAVINES WERE 18 INCHES TO 6 FT. THICK, OVERLYING BEDROCK OF SLATES & SHALES. GOLD IS COARSE, 750 TO 900 FINENESS.

Comment (Location): SOUTHERN OUTER EDGE OF GRAVEL HILLS ADJACENT TO RABBIT CREEK.

Comment (Production): ESTIMATED TOTAL DISTRICT PRODUCTION WAS 2500 OZ. AU SINCE 1870.

Comment (Deposit): LOCATED IN ONE OF FIVE GULCHES KNOWN TO CARRY GOLD. THE PLACERITES DISTRICT WAS FIRST WORKED IN EARLY 1870'S. IN 1890'S GRAVEL WAS HAULED TO RABBIT HOLE SPRINGS. MINING WAS PRINCIPALLY BY SMALL SCALE HAND METHODS. DEPOSITS NOT WORKED AGAIN UNTIL AFTER 1928. EQUIPMENT WAS INSTALLED IN 1929 TO WORK PLACERS ON A LARGE SCALE. DEPOSITS WORKED INTERMITTENTLY SINCE. NUMEROUS PITS, CUTS & TRENCHES CAN STILL BE SEEN IN THE AREA. A RECENT TRENCH IS 1000 FT. LONG, 25 FT.
