Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Production): ABOUT 250 LBS. OF TRIMMED SHEET MICA WAS SHIPPED

Comment (Deposit): PEGMATITE DIKES CONTAINING 10-20% SHEETS & BOOKS OF MICA. BERYL CRYSTALS UP TO 3 INCHES IN DIAMETER.

Comment (Workings): PITS, ADITS

Comment (Geology): VERTICAL FAULT FORMS W CONTACT OF A 2.5 FT - 3 FT THICK BERYL-BEARING PEGMATITE, AUTENITE REPORTED IN NE 1/4 SW 1/4 SW 1/4 SEC. 16, T. 29 N., R. 58 E.

Comment (Development): UNDER DEVELOPMENT IN 1926 BY THE MUTUAL MICA CO. MORE CLAIMS WERE STAKED IN 1928. DIKES WERE EXPLORED BY A 12-FT-DEEP PIT AND A 30-FT. ADIT

Comment (Deposit): THIS PROPERTY WAS UNDER DEVELOPMENT IN 1926 BY THE MUTUAL MICA CO.; IN 1928 MORE CLAIMS WERE STAKED COVERING THE PEGMATITE DIKES THAT CONTAIN MICA AND BERYL. TWO DIKES IN DAWLEY CANYON WERE OPENED BY A 12 FT DEEP PIT AND A 30 FT ADIT. OTHER PITS AND ADITS WERE DUG TO EXPLORE FOR BERYL AND MICA. SOME BERYL WAS SHIPPED FOR SPECIMENT, AND METALLORGICAL TESTING. ABOUT 250 LBS OF TRIMMED SHEET MICA WAS SHIPPED. THE DIKES WERE 6 FT - 10 FT WIDE, AND 300 FT LONG. SHEET AND BOOK OF MICA 3 IN - 6 IN SQUARE CONSTITUTE 10-20% OF THE PEGMATITE DIKE. THE BERYL OCCURS AS SPARSE CRYSTAL UP TO 3 IN IN DIAMETER IN WHITE, GREEN, AND AZURE HUES. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT
