Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Deposit): Discovery Year: 1870'S

Comment (Location): THE MINE IS 11 MILES WEST OF IONE IN ELLSWORTH CANYON; PREVIOUS QUAD DESIGNATION = IONE 1:625000

Comment (Workings): AN INCLINE SHAFT WHICH IS STILL ACCESSIBLE, HEAD FRAME, ORE-BIN AND ANOTHER ADIT ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE CANYON THAT CONNECTS TO THE SHAFT

Comment (Geology): ON SURFACE MINE SURROUNDED BY LIMESTONE THAT HAS BEEN INTRUDED BY ALASKITE DIKE, BUT ON THE DUMP ALL OF THE VEIN MATERIAL IS QTZ IN GRANODIORITE. THE GRAND VIEW MINE IS ON A QTZ VEIN WHICH IS ALSO CROSS-CUTTING APUITE DIKES WHICH HAVE INTRUDED A DARK-GREY LIMESTONE. THERE IS SOME SKARN-EPIDOTE MINERALIZATION BUT IT IS NOT DOMINATE AT THE MINE SITE. THE QTZ. VEINS AND VEINLETS HAVE INTRUDED ALONG FAULTS AND FRACTURES. BRECCIATION IS COMMON WITHIN THE VEIN SYSTEM, WHICH IS MINERALIZED W/ MINOR CUS, CUO, WOLFRAMITE (?), AS WELL AS SILVER THERE IS SOME CALIFICATION AND SILICITICATION ALONG THE RIND OF THE VEIN
