Description: The Lens And Contiguous Pillow Basalt Are Affected By Faulting In The Western Sector Of The Deposit. Two Crossfaults With Opposing Dips Intersect Here; One Offsets The Ore A Few Feet. A Fault Of Greater Displacement Borders The Mineralized Lens On The Northwest And Has Produced A Horizontal Offset Of More Than 25 Feet. Variations In The Basalt-Jasper Contact In Holes 2 And 4 Strongly Suggest Faulting At Depth.

Comment (Geology): PILLOW BASALTS, RED LIMESTONE, GRAYWACKE, AND JASPER ARE THE PRINCIPAL COUNTRY ROCKS. THEIR GENERAL STRIKE IS N. 75 DEGREE E., AND THEIR AVERAGE DIP VERTICAL. A LARGE MANGANIFEROUS LENS CONTAINING JASPER AND SILICIFIED LIMESTONE OCCURS BETWEEN BASALT ON THE NORTH AND RED LIMESTONE ON THE SOUTH. THE NORTH CONTACT IS FAIRLY REGULAR; THE SOUTH CONTACT IS IRREGULAR. FROM DIAMOND-DRILL-CORE INTERSECTIONS IT IS APPARENT THAT THE CONTACT CONFORMS TO THE BEDDING OF THE LIMESTONE, EXCEPT NEAR THE WESTERN END OF THE DEPOSIT WHERE IT CUTS ACROSS THE BEDDING AND IS ACCOMPANIED BY A THICKENING OF THE ADJOINING RED LIMESTONE.

Comment (Deposit): 3 CLAIMS. IN 1940 THE BUREAU OF MINES DRILLED SEVEN DIAMOND-DRILL HOLES, AGGREGATING 773 FEET IN LENGTH, ON THE APEX PROPERTY. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT

Comment (Location): ON COPPER CREEK NEAR THE HEAD OF LAKE CUSHMAN. FROM HOODSPORT IT IS REACHED BY TRAVELING WEST ON 16-1/2 MILES OF WELL-MAIN-TAINED ROAD TO LINCOLN GUARD STATION, THENCE 2-1/2 MILES BY TRAIL. THE TRAIL LEADS DOWN THE NORTH FORK OF THE SKOKOMISH RIVER 1 MILE TO THE MOUTH OF COPPER CREEK. THE REMAINING 1-1/2 MILES IS VERY STEEP AND FOLLOWS THE CREEK TO THE WORKINGS.

Comment (Development): DIAMOND DRILLING, SURFACE TRENCHING.

Comment (Deposit): LENS OF MN ORE ALONG A GREENSTONE-RED LIMESTONE CONTACT. THE DIMENSIONS OF THE MANGANIFEROUS-JASPER LENS ARE VERY IRREGULAR. THE LENS IS ABOUT 200 FEET LONG, HAS A MAXIMUM WIDTH ON THE SURFACE OF 28 FEET, AND HAS A MINIMUM DEPTH OF 100 FEET.
