Comment (Location): IN THE AMERICAN RAVINE; HARTFORD HILL SEPARATES THIS PIT FROM LUCERNE PIT (MRDS W700442).

Comment (Deposit): CONCENTRATED GOLD AND SILVER ARE CONTAINED WITHIN A THREE-DIMENSIONAL INTERLOCKING QUARTZ STOCKWORK AND IN MAGANIFEROUS-QUARTZ-CALCITE VEINS. OUTSIDE OF THE MAGANIFEROUS ZONE, SIGNIFICANT GOLD AND/OR SILVER VALUES GENERALLY CONFORM TO THE GEOMETRY OF THE SILVER CITY LODE.

Comment (Workings): THE PIT IS DESIGNED TO REMOVE 607,000 TONS OF ORE CONTAINING 0.047 OZ/TON AU AND 0.28 OZ/TON AG. TRUCKS WILL TRANSPORT ORE TO HEAP LEACH PROCESSING FACILITIES.

Comment (Geology): TYPICAL OF SILVER CITY LODE, GOLD MINERALIZATION IS CONTAINED WITHIN BRECCIAS. THE HANGING WALL AND MINERALIZATION IS YOUNGER, TERTIARY VOLCANICS, WITH FOOT WALL COMPOSED OF MESOZOIC UNITS. LOCALLY, TERTIARY-AGED ROCKS ARE ALSO FOUND AS A FOOTWALL.

Comment (Development): NO MRDS RECORD OF EARLIER WORK IN AMERICAN RAVINE, ALTHOUGH TOPOGRAPHIC MAP INDICATES SOME TRENCHS. EXPLORATORY DRILLING HAS OCCURRED SINCE 1990. PIT IS EXPECTED TO BE OPERATIONAL BY 1994.
