Comment (Deposit): THE DEPOSIT WAS DEVELOPED BY THREE ADITS THAT TOTAL SEVERAL HUNDRED FEET AND A LARGE OPEN-PIT MINE. A 300-TON/DAY FLOTATION MILL WAS BUILT AT THE SITE (HUNTTING, 1956).

Comment (Location): ELEVATION 3600 FEET.

Comment (Production): PRODUCTION INCLUDES 6831 TONS SHIPPED IN 1939 THAT AVERAGED 0.55 OZ/TON AU, ABOUT 0.50 OZ/TON AG, AND 0.16% TO 0.55% CU (HUNTTING, 1956). APPROXIMATELY 9000 TONS OF ORE WERE SHIPPED IN 1940 AND 4000 TONS OF ORE IN 1942; 1899 TONS OF CONCENTRATE WERE SHIPPED IN 1950 (BURNET, 1976). IN 1951, 1546 TONS OF COPPER CONCENTRATE YIELDED 268,202 LB OF COPPER, AND 2072 OZ AU. SHIPMENTS WERE ALSO MADE IN 1952-1953 (HUNTTING, 1956, P. 135).

Comment (Geology): DACITE BRECCIAS OF THE JURASSIC - CRETACEOUS NEWBY GROUP ARE HOST TO VOLCANOGENIC MASSIVE SULFIDE MINERALIZATION AT THE ALDER MINE. THE NEWBY GROUP WAS INTRUDED BY THE ALDER CREEK STOCK, WHICH HAS BEEN DATED AT 137 +/- 3.4 M.Y. (BURNET, 1976, BUNNING, 1990).
