Comments

Comment (Production): ROUGH ESTIMATE OF TOTAL PRODUCTION FOR ENTIRE CASTLE DOME DISTRICT (SEVEN MINE SITES). ANY FLUORSPAR PRODUCTION IS A BY-PRODUCT OF LEAD MINING.

Comment (Deposit): GREEN, PURPLE, AND ROSE-COLORED FLUORITE ASSOCIATED WITH CALCITE, BARITE, GALENA, AND WULFENITE OCCURS IN VEINS WHERE MESOZOIC SHALE, IMPURE LIMESTONE, SILTSTONE, AND SCHIST HAVE BEEN INTRUDED BY RHYOLITE PORPHYRY AND DIORITE PORPHYRY. MAIN HOST ROCK IS CRETACEOUS SHALE. VEINS SPLIT AND BRANCH BUT ARE TRACEABLE FOR 4000 FT. FLUORITE ORE USUALLY LESS THAN 5 FT THICK. VEINS LOCALLY CONTAIN 40-60 PERCENT FLUORITE.

Comment (Location): LAT-LONG FROM MINE SHAFTS SHOWN ON THE RED BLUFF MTN NW TOPO.
