Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Reserve-Resource): MODERATE TONNAGE OF ORE CONTAINING SEVERAL PERCENT COPPER AND FEW TENTHS OF COBALT MAY EXIST.

Comment (Production): 1952 ; CONCENTRATES REPRESENTED ABOUT 10 % BULK ORE SHIPPED; SMELTER RECOVERY WAS 17.64 % CU, 3.27 OZ. AG AND 0.519 OZ AU/TON. ORE ALSO CONTAINS COBALT.

Comment (Deposit): ELEVEN MINERALIZED VEIN ZONES ARE KNOWN IN THIS AREA. METALLIC MINERALS MAKE UP FROM 1 - 80 % OF THE VEINS; AVG. IS 5 %. EXPLORATION HAS SHOWN VEIN ZONES TO PERSIST A MINIMUM OF 300 FT. VERTICALLY, INDIVIDUAL VEINS RARELY EXCEED 40 FT. IN PITCH AND STRIKE LENGHT, THICKNESS VARIES FROM A FRACTION OF AN INCH TO 29 INCHES FOR VEINS. DEPOSITS FORMED BY REPLACEMENT OF SHEARED SCHIST BY QUARTZ, SILICATES AND SULFIDES.

Comment (Workings): NUMEROUS PITS AND FOUR SHAFTS, TWO ARE CAVED. PRINCIPAL MINE ENTRY IS JESSE BELLE SHAFT WHICH EXTENDS 300 FT. ALONG AN INCLINE OF 85 E. DRIFTS RUN NORTH FROM SHAFT AT 100 AND 200 FT., AND BOTH NORTH AND SOUTH AT 300 FT.

Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: MINE AREA IS UNDERLAIN BY QUARTZ - MICA SCHIST AND GNEISS, INTRUDED BY QUARTZ - DIORITE STOCK. METAMORPHIC ROCKS STRIKE NW, DIP STEEPLY EASTWARD. QUARTZ - BIOTITE SCHIST, MOST ABUNDANT ROCK IN AREA, BEDDING GENERALLY PARALLELS SCHISTOSITY. SOME CROSS - BEDDING IN META SANDSTONE BEDS. SCHISTOSITY STRIKES N 20 - 25 W, DIPS MORE THAN 80 E. DIKES OF QUARTZ - MUSCOVITE GNEISS CUT ACROSS SCHISTOSITY OF SCHIST. SMALL STOCK OF MASSIVE PORPHYRITIC QUARTZ - DIORITE WITH APLITIC APOPHYSES EXTENDING FROM STOCK ALONG SCHISTOSITY OF THE SCHIST. MASSIVE QUARTZ WITHOUT METALLIC MINERALIZATION OCCURS IN LENSES ALONG EASTERN MARGIN OF AREA, TRENDING N 45 - 60 W, DIPPING STEEPLY EAST ACROSS FOLIATION OF SCHIST.

Comment (Commodity): 75 % OF METALLIC MINERALS CONTENT IS CHALCOPYRITE, PYRITE FROM 10 - 25 %, PYRRHOTITE AND COBALTITE ARE RARE.
