Comments

Comment (Production): FIRST PRODUCTION UNKNOWN BUT WAS AFTER 1898. PRODUCTION SHOWN IS FOR GOLD COIN DISTRICT, BUT ALL OR NEARLY ALL CAME FROM GOLD COIN MINE. BY 1912, $200,000 AU, 1930-40 CYANIDATION PRODUCED ABOUT $4 MILLION AU

Comment (Development): MILL AND PRINCIPAL MINE WORKINGS ON RED FIR CLAIM, MINOR DEVELOPMENT EXTENDS THROUGH SUNNYSIDE AND CENTER CLAIMS AND LITTLE JOSIE LODE. MINE HAS BEEN OPENED AND CLOSED MANY TIMES.

Comment (Location): LOCATION GIVEN IS OF MAIN ADIT. THE MINE IS ON A LOW HILL THAT SEPARATES DALY GULCH FROM FLINT CREEK DRAINAGE, 300 YD NORTH OF U.S. HIGHWAY 10A. IN DEERLODGE NATIONAL FOREST INFO FROM LAND.ST :(1971)

Comment (Commodity): UNVERIFIED REPORT OF PLATINUM

Comment (Deposit): VEIN IS IN A SHEAR ZONE AND CROPS OUT ON SURFACE. IT CUTS ACROSS BEDDING OF HOST ROCK. EAST OF VEIN ARE TWO FAULTS TRENDING NORTH-NORTHEAST WITH THE DOWNTHROW ON THE EAST SIDE. GRANITE CROPS OUT 0.5 MI NORTHEAST OF DEPOSIT. SECONDARY ENRICHED ORE IS IMPORTANT

Comment (Workings): MINE WAS DEVELOPED BY SERIES OF ADITS FOLLOWING VEIN WITH BOTH OPEN AND SQUARE SET STOPES RAISED FROM DRIFT LEVELS. MANY STOPES HAVE SINCE COLLAPSED CREATING STEEP SIDED OPEN PITS WITHIN THE AREA.

Comment (Geology): THE COUNTRY ROCK STRIKES NE AND DIPS 30-40 NW. INTRUDING IGNEOUS ROCK IS EXPOSED ABOUT 0.5 MI NORTHEAST.
