Comment (Deposit): MN ORE BODIES ADJACENT TO SMALL NW-TRENDING VEINS, MAINLY HEADLIGHT AND SOUNDER VEINS. NUMEROUS SMALL SLIPS AND VEINLETS ALSO INFLUENCE DEPOSITION. HEADLIGHT HAS BEEN MINED MORE THAN 300 M DOWN DIP. MN DEPOSIT IS TABULAR FROM 3-6 FT THICK, REPLACES LIMESTONE IN THE MAYWOOD FM. THE MN VEINS HAVE A STRIKE OF N 55-72 W AND A DIP OF 45-85 S, THE LESSER DIPS APPEARING ON THE LOWER LEVELS. THERE ARE SHEETED ZONES TRENDING N 60-80 W AND DIPPING STEEPLY THROUGHOUT THE MINE.
Comment (Workings): ADITS, DRIFTS AND STOPES. LOWEST ADIT FOLLOWS QUARTZ VEIN.
Comment (Geology): SEDIMENTARY ROCKS NEAR GRANODIORITE METAMORPHOSED TO MARBLE, BANDED WITH GARNET-AMPHIBOLE. MINE ON EAST LIMB OF PHILIPSBURG ANTICLINE WHICH TRENDS ABOUT N 20 E AND PITCHES ABOUT 15 N
Comment (Reserve-Resource): GODDARD (1940) SHOWED EVIDENCE FOR SUBSTANTIAL RESERVES BUT IT IS ESTIMATED THAT MOST OR ALL OF THESE RESERVES HAVE BEEN MINED. SOME ORE PROBABLY REMAINS AT GREATER DEPTH.
