VANADIUM DEPOSIT IN ENTRADA SANDSTONE LIES NEAR NE MARGIN OF SMALL MINERALIZED BELT WITHIN NE-CONCAVE CURVE OF LARGER PRINCIPAL MINERALIZED BELT. REPLACEMENT SULFIDES IN PONY EXPRESS LIMESTONE ABOVE VANADIUM LAYER PROBABLY RELATED TO BRANCH FAULT (DOWNTHROWN ON NE) FROM GRAY HEAD FAULT AND POSSIBLY TO GENERALLY EAST-WEST-TRENDING MICROGABBRO DIKE ON WHICH BELLE CHAMPION MINE IS DEVELOPED. PURINGTON (1898) DESCRIBES SULFIDE ORE AS REPLACEMENT IN LIMESTONE. SUCH DEPOSITS AT SAWPIT GENERALLY OCCUPY UPPER PORTION OF LIMESTONE BED, ARE 100 TO 200 FT LONG, 25 FT WIDE, AND 3 TO 5 FT THICK, WITH LONG DIMENSION CORRESPONDING TO TREND OF EAST-WEST FISSURES. LIZZIE G. ORE PARTLY OXIDIZED TO LIMONITE AND CERUSSITE.
