Comment (Commodity): WAS AT ONE TIME REPORTEDLY SECOND LARGEST SILVER PRODUCER IN WORLD

Comment (Development): MINING CEASED IN 1957. GROUND LEASED ALONG WITH NUMBER TWO SHAFT TO ASARCO, INC FOR FIFTY YEARS IN DECEMBER, 1979.

Comment (Deposit): DETAIL IS PROVIDED BY MORRIS (1968) PAGE 1059

Comment (Workings): DISTANCES INCLUDE WORKINGS IN ADJACENT MAMMOTH-GRAND CENTRAL GROUND. MAIN SHAFT, WHICH CAVED IN 1970S, REACHED 2350 LEVEL. INTERNAL SHAFTS REACHED 2700, 2900 LEVELS. DRILLING AND SINKING BELOW. GEMINI ZONE ORE WAS MINED TO ELEVATION 4500 FEET MIDWAY BETWEEN BECK AND PAXMAN FAULTS. HERE HIGH PUMPING COSTS AND DIMINISHING ORE GRADE AND SIZE LED TO CESSATION OF WORK.

Comment (Geology): ORE LOCALIZATION IS STRUCTURAL. ALMOST ALL SEDIMENTARY BEDS ARE FAVORABLE FOR ORE.

Comment (Deposit): 4000 GALLONS PER MINUTE OF WATER WERE PUMPED UP TO SINKHOLE 2000 FEET NORTHWEST OF SHAFT ON 1600 LEVEL OF GEMINI MINE. NO RETURN OF THIS WATER INTO DEEP WORKINGS WAS OBSERVED. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT
