THE UTM LOCATION IS NEAR THE CENTER OF THIS AREA AT SPLIT MOUNTAIN.; PREVIOUS QUAD DESIGNATION = DINOSAUR QUARRY, 1965 1:24000

Comment (Geology): AN AREA, 2 MILES EAST OF LITTLE BRUSH CREEK TO 5 MILES NW OF DINOSAUR NATIONAL MONUMENT, IS COVERED BY THE BISHOP CONGLOMERATE. THE PHOSPHATE BEDS OUTCROP NEAR THE EAST END OF THE ISLAND PARK SYNCLINE AND ON THE FLANKS OF THE SPLIT MOUNTAIN ANTICLINE.

Comment (Workings): WORKINGS CONSIST OF A 600 FT SHAFT AND A 810 FT DRILL HOLE.

Comment (Geology): THE AREA IS EXTENSIVELY COVERED BY GLACIAL DEPOSITS. THE INTRUSIVE IS ENCOUNTERED AT THE 600 FT LEVEL OF THE SHAFT
