Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Development): SEVERAL CLAIMS, HELD BY S. MINK OF ELKO IN 1967. ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT WORK WAS BEING DONE FROM 1953 TO 1954.

Comment (Deposit): INTRUSIVE CONTACT WITH TACTITE ZONE CONTAINING SCHEELITE, WITH SOME MOLYBDENITE, CHALCOPYRITE & PYRITE

Comment (Geology): SILLS AND DIKES OF QTZ MONZONITE UP TO 20' THICK EXTEND OUT INTO THE SEDIMENTS. APLITE DIKES CUT THE SILLS & SEDIMENTS AND APPEAR TO BE LATE STAGE DIFFERENTIATES FROM THE QTZ MONZ. STOCK. THE SEDIMENTS HAVE BEEN PYROMETAMORPHOSED IN A ZONE 50- TO 100-FT. ALONG THE CONTACT OF THE STOCK. SCHEELITE OCCURS IN TACTITE ALONG THE CONTACTS OF THE STOCKS, DIKES, AND SILLS. BOTH AS LARGE MASSES AND AS DISSEMINATED GRAINS MOST OF THE SCHEELITE IS CONCENTRATED WITHIN 20 FT. OF THE STOCK AND WITHIN 5 FEET OF DIKES AND SILLS. SCHEELITE IS ALSO PRESENT IN CALCITE VEINLETS WHICH ARE LOCALLY ABUNDANT ENOUGH TO FORM STOCKWORKS.
