Comment (Geology): LODE FOLLOWS FAULT CONTACT OF DARK FISSILE SLATE AGAINST GABBRO & SERPENTINE. THE DARK SLATE CONTAINS UP TO 6 IN. THICK BEDS OF LIGHT-GRAY SANDY SLATE. SLATE CRUSHED & SHEARED CLOSE TO CONTACT, THOUGH NEARBY, THE ONLY ALTERATION EFFECT IS THE PRESENCE OF PYRITE FLAKES ON CLEAVAGE SURFACE. STRIKE IS N 20 W. DIP 80 W GABBRO IS ALTERED, IRREGULARLY, TO CRUSHED TALCOSE W CARBONATE LENSES. VEINLETS OF CROSS-FIBER AMPHIBOLITE ASBESTOS AT ONE SPOT, 6 IN. MAX. WIDTH, ARE CROSSED BY IRREGULAR QTZ. STRINGERS & THE AMPHIBOLITE IS REPLACED BY QTZ. QTZ. ALMOST COMPLETELY LACKING. AU SAID TO HAVE BEEN FOUND IN THIN FLAKES ON CLEAVAGE SURFACES OF DARK SLATE.
