Comments

Comment (Geology): Molybdenite occurs in quartz-pyrite veins and silicified shear zones in quartz monzonite porphyry at the Nye mine; moly content may range up to several percent in some parts of the veins.

Comment (Location): The property is in northern Gilpin County, about 1 mile ENE of Apex, on Dakota Hill, secs. 15-16, 22, T 2 S, R 73 W.

Comment (Production): Nye Metals, Inc., contracted with the Office of Mineral Exploration (OME) and received funds to exploration for moly in 1962; a few thousand tons production of high-grade molybdenum ore was reported in 1964-65 from the Wilma (Nye) mine.

Comment (Deposit): THIS RECORD DUPLICATED MRDS # DC03801, DC05686, AND D000432. THE RECORDS WERE COMBINED AND WERE DELETED.
