Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: MASSIVE BED OF MANGANESE BEARING CHERT IS EXPOSED ALONG A LEDGE FOR 125 FT, STRIKING N 70 W. THIN BEDDED RED CHERT AND SHALE ARE EXPOSED ALONG, THE SOUTH WALL OF ORE. BOTH WALLS OF THE ORE BODY ARE ALTERED BASALT OR DIABASE (GREENSTONE). MOST OF THE ORE BODY IS HIGHLY SILICEOUS FINELY CRYSTALLINE MATERIAL STAINED BLACK BY MANGANESE OXIDE. SOME VEINS OF PINK MANGANESE SILICATE AND LIGHT BROWN RESINOUS LUSTERED MATERIAL.
