Comment (Development): PRODUCED 189 TONS 1937-1940;$25000 WORTH FROM 1911 TO 1917. TOTAL PRODUCTION TO 1940 EXCEEDED $32,000. A 20-TON CYANIDE PLANT PRESENT IN 1911, 50-TON PLANT IN 1914. BY 1932, ALL EQUIPMENT AND BUILDINGS HAD BEEN REMOVED AND STOPES WERE CAVED AT THE SURFACE. GOLD ORE WAS BEING SHIPPED IN 1931. PRESENT CLAIMS LOCATED 1979. NO ACTIVITY AT TIME OF EXAMINATION IN AUGUST 1983, BUT CLAIMS PROBABLY ACTIVE AS THERE IS EVIDENCE OF RECENT GEOCHEMICAL SAMPLING.

Comment (Deposit): ORE IS LOCATED ALONG A FAULT CONTACT BETWEEN LIMESTONE AND QUARTZITE OCCURRING AS FE- AND MN-STAINED BRECCIA ASSOCIATED WITH QUARTZ AND CALCITE.

Comment (Geology): ORE IS IN THRUST (?) BRECCIA BETWEEN THE LIMESTONE AND QUARTZITE. STOPES TREND N25-30E, FISSURE FLATTENS DOWNWARD FROM 68 DEG W TO 36 DEG. VEIN FILLING IS A NETWORK OF TABULAR BARITE CRYSTALS AND SCATTERED GRAINS OF GALENA. COLLOFORM CHALCEDONIC QUARTZ REPLACES AND VEINS THE BARITE. QUARTZ, HEMIMORPHITE,MIMETITE,AND FE-MN OXIDES FILL THE INTERSTICES BETWEEN THE BARITE CRYSTALS. FAULT BRECCIA IS CUT BY INTERSECTING SLIP PLANES. LOWER ADIT BEGINS IN RECRYSTALLIZED TAN-GREY LIMESTONE (N50E,20SE) WHICH IS FRACTURED AND FAULTED. QUARTZITE OUTCROPS 10-15 FT WEST OF CAVED PORTAL. FAULT CONTACT BETWEEN THE TWO ROCK TYPES STRIKES N40-45E, DIP 70SE. MAJOR WORKINGS UPSLOPE FROM LOWER ADIT LIE ALONG THIS FAULT ZONE. ROCKS ALONG THIS ZONE ARE HIGHLY FE-STAINED AND SILICIFIED. INTERSECTIONS OF SHEAR ZONES ARE HIGHLY OXIDIZED AND BRECCIATED. A BRECCIATED ALTERED ZONE IS EXPOSED IN A STOPED EXPOSURE WHICH EXTENDS FOR ABOUT 25 FT ABOVE THE PARTIALLY CAVED PORTAL. Comment (Geology): THE MAIN FAULT ZONE WHICH JUXTAPOSE QUARTZITES (ON THE NW) AGAINST LIMESTONES (ON THE SE), AND THIS ZONE STRIKES N30E,30-40 SE AND IS 20 FT OR MORE WIDE. THE ADIT OR INCLINE FOLLOWS A SECOND MORE STEEPLY INCLINED INTERSECTING SHEAR (E-W,555). ALL ROCK EXPOSED IS HIGHLY BRECCIATED, IRON-STAINED AND CUT BY HIGH-ANGLE FISSURES. LARGE RECRYSTALLIZED LIMESTONE BOULDERS ARE CAUGHT UP IN THIS ZONE. LIMESTONE IN THE ZONE IS VEINED BY CALCITE, BARITE, AND MINOR QUARTZ. THESE MINERALS ALSO OCCUR AS GANGUE IN BRECCIA SAMPLES. FAULT ZONE ALSO CONTAINS ABUNDANT FE, MN AND CLAY. BARITE-BEARING GOSSAN WAS SAMPLED FROM THE DUMP. QUARTZ, HEMIMORPHITE, MIMETITE, AND FE-MN OXIDES FILL THE INTERSTICES BETWEEN THE BARITE CRYSTALS.
