Geyser District

Overview

Other Names: Geyser Ranch area

County: White Pine, Lincoln

Discovered: 1918

Commodities: tungsten, silver, gold, manganese

Comments

The Geyser district is located on the eastern slope of Mount Grafton in the Schell Creek Range along the White Pine-Lincoln county line. The southern part of the district, containing the manganese occurrence, extends into Lincoln County, and is sometimes included in the Patterson district.

Gibellini District

Overview

County: Eureka, Nye

Discovered: 1942

Commodities: manganese, zinc, nickel, vanadium, platinum

Comments

This district includes the southern tip of the Fish Creek Range, extending from the Gibellini Mine south into Nye County. The district is sometimes included within the adjacent Fish Creek district.

Gilbert District

Overview

Other Names: Desert, Castle Rock

County: Esmeralda

Commodities: gold, silver, mercury, turquoise, copper, lead, antimony

Comments

Located in the eastern part of the Monte Cristo Range. Desert is an alternate name. The Castle Rock area is near the mercury mine in the southern part of district.

Gilbert Placer District Description

A small amount of placer gold was recovered in 1935 and 1938 from this district, on the inner north slope of the Monte Cristo Range, a crescentic range in northern Esmeralda County (T. 4 N., R. 38 E., unsurveyed). The production in 1938 was recovered from the Gold Ridge claim. The placer gold was probably derived from late Tertiary gold veins in and near stocks of the Oddie Rhyolite.

Gilbert Canyon District

Overview

County: Elko

Commodities: beryllium, columbium, tantalum, uranium

Comments

District includes Gilbert and McCutcheon Creeks, between Green Mountain and Mound Valley on the west slope of the Ruby Mountains.

Golconda District

Organized: 1866

Comments

Lies mainly southeast of the town of Golconda and includes the portion of the Edna Mountains lying generally between Golconda and Golconda Summit.
