The Menifee or Auld district is in western Riverside County about eight miles south of Perris. The area was first mined many years ago, and there has been minor prospecting since. The principal gold sources have been the Menifee, Lucky Boy, and Mammoth mines, none of which has been extensively developed. A number of narrow quartz veins contain free gold and in places abundant pyrite. Country rock is quartz diorite.
