The Fish Springs or Tinemaha district, in northwestern Inyo County about eight miles south of Big Pine, has several small mines and prospects. The New Era mine was active in the 1940s. The deposits consist of gold-quartz veins in granitic rocks that are commonly associated with diorite dikes. The deposits usually consist of a series of narrow parallel veins.
