The Goldstone district is in northwestern San Bernadino County about 35 miles north of Barstow, in what is now the U.S. Naval Ordnance Test Station, Mojave Range. The district was active in 1915 to 1918, the 1920s, and again just before World War II. There are several shallow gold-quartz veins in limestone, siliceous shales, and associated diorite dikes. Several high-grade pockets have been discovered. Copper and silver also are present.
