Comment (Deposit): Other Comments = Site is in Misty Fiords National Monument Wilderness.

Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = The country rocks near Ella Point consist of pelitic and quartzofeldspathic paragneiss that is intruded by an elongate stock of Cretaceous leucocratic granodiorite and quartz monzonite (Berg and others, 1988). The paragneiss represents marine argillaceous and clastic strata that underwent regional high-grade regional metamorphism in Cretaceous or Tertiary time. The premetamorphic age of the strata is uncertain. Most are probably Paleozoic, but some may be as young as Mesozoic and some as old as Precambrian (Berg and others, 1988; Gehrels and others, 1990; Crawford and others, in press). ? According to Berg and Cobb (1967, p. 182), 'A zinc-bearing lode that may be similar to the one at Moth Bay [KC086] is on the west shore of Bradfield Canal near Ella Point, where pyrite and sphalerite reportedly replace sericitic schist.' No other information about this occurrence has been made public.
