Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Berryhill (1963) collected 7 samples of beach deposits along this segment of the Hagemeister Strait shoreline; five of these samples contained trace amounts of flour gold in heavy-mineral concentrates. In 1937, gold in workable amounts was reported in some of the beach deposits northwest of Hagemeister Island and in the valley of the Slug River (Smith, 1939, p. 63 [B 910-A]).
