Comment (Deposit): GOLD IN STREAM AND BENCH GRAVEL BELOW LUCKY GULCH. MINING IN 1936 WAS ON A BENCH 70 FT. ABOVE CREEK, ON EAST SIDE OF CREEK JUST BELOW LUCKY GULCH. BENCH ABOUT 100 FT. WIDE; 4 FT. OF ROUNDED GRAVEL ON TERTIARY CONGLOMERATE BEDROCK, OVERLAIN BY 4-11 FT. OF MUCK AND FINE GRAVEL.

Comment (Geology): MAJOR.UNITS: BEDROCK IS MAINLY TERTIARY CONGLOMERATE WITH INTERBEDDED SANDSTONE AND SHALE. ; REG.COM: ALL GOLD DOWNSTREAM FROM LUCKY GULCH CONFLUENCE. SOURCE THOUGHT TO BE AURIFEROUS AREA OF TERTIARY CONGLOMERATE NEAR HEAD OF LUCKY GULCH.

Comment (Location): USGS MF-393, LOC. 30. 1-3 MILES NORTH OF SEVENTYMILE RIVER. COORDINATES GIVEN ARE FOR CENTRAL POINT OF PLACER. LAND STATUS VALUE CALCULATED 6-94 USING GIS OVERLAY ANALYSIS WITH BLM 1:2,500,000 SCALE OWNERSHIP STATUS MAP (1991).
