Comments

Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = Chapin (1914) reported a 14-foot shaft on the third lode; a 390-foot tunnel driven to intersect the third lode crossed the other two lodes in route. The workings were caved in 1931 (Hill, 1933).

Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Chapin (1914, p. 347-348) reported that this site consists of three lode prospects. One is a brecciated zone in schist with quartz stringers carrying pyrite and arsenopyrite. The second is a 50-foot zone of quartz, horses of schist, and gouge with pyrite and arsenopyrite in the quartz and schist. The third prospect is quartz carrying pyrite, arsenopyrite and free gold. Dump samples contained stibnite, pyrite and arsenopyrite mixed with schist (Hill, 1933).
