Comment (Deposit): THE PLACERITES DISTRICT WAS FIRST WORKED IN THE EARLY 1870'S. IN 1890'S GRAVEL WAS HAULED TO RABBIT HOLE SPRING. MINING WAS PRINCIPALLY BY SMALL SCALE HAND METHODS. DEPOSITS NOT WORKED AGAIN UNTIL AFTER 1928. EQUIPMENT WAS INSTALLED IN 1929 TO WORK PLACERS ON A LARGE SCALE. DEPOSITS WERE WORKED INTERMITTENTLY SINCE. NUMEROUS PITS, CUTS AND TRENCHES CAN STILL BE SEEN IN THE AREA. A RECENT TRENCH IS 1000 FT. LONG, 25 FT. WIDE, & MOSTLY 6 TO 10 FT DEEP, DEEPEST PART IS 25 FT. Comment (Development): IN 1890'S GRAVEL WAS HAULED TO RABBIT HOLE SPRING TO BE WORKED. DEPOSITS WERE NOT WORKED AGAIN UNTIL 1928, AFTER WHICH THEY WERE WORKED INTERMITTENTLY TO PRESENT.: IN 1984, WORTH INC. OF SAN DIEGO HAD A LARGE AMOUNT OF EQUIPMENT AND SOME PEOPLE ON THE SITE, BUT MINING WAS DEL-AYED PENDING DEVELOPMENT OF ADDITIONAL WATER RESOURCES. LISTED- AS AN ACTIVE GOLD MINING AND MILLING OPERATION IN 1984, EMPLO-YING 3 PERSONS
