Comments

Comment (Deposit): RICHEST ORE FOUND AT OR NEAR THE SURFACE; VALUES DECREASED RAPIDLY WITH DEPTH AS ORE PASSED INTO LEAN PRIMARY SULFIDE ORES. ORE IN FLAT VEIN IN LIMESTONE. IT AVERAGES ABOUT 20 INCHES IN WIDTH. WORKINGS EXPLORE CONTACT BETWEEN KOIPATO RHYOLITE AND PRIDA THIN-BEDDED CARBONACEOUS LIMESTONE. QUARTZ VEINS OCCU-R ALONG BEDDING PLANES OF THE LIMESTONE. VEINS ARE NARROW (1-3-0 CM) AND CONTAIN PYRITE, SPHALERITE, JAMESONITE AND TETRAHEDR-ITE IN PRIMARY ORE. APPARENTLY, ORE MINED IN EARLY DAYS WAS SU-PERGENE-ENRICHED AND CONTAINED ABUNDANT ACANTHITE AS SOOTY COA-TINGS.

Comment (Workings): EXTENSIVE WORKINGS FROM SEVERAL ADIT LEVELS

Comment (Geology): RICHEST ORE FOUND AT OR NEAR THE SURFACE; VALUES DECREASED RAPIDLY WITH DEPTH AS ORE PASSED INTO LEAN PRIMARY SULFIDE ORES. ORE IN FLAT VEIN IN LIMESTONE. IT AVERAGES ABOUT 20 INCHES IN WIDTH

Comment (Location): JUST NE OF COTTONWOOD MINE ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :(1972); PREVIOUS QUAD DESIGNATION = UNIONVILLE (1954) 1:625000

Comment (Production): 17,348 TONS 1921-24 INCLUDED WITH ARIZONA AND OTHER MINES IN THE AREA

Comment (Development): DEVELOPED AND WORKED IN 1870'S.. INTERMITTENT ACTIVITY TO 1970'S; NO ACTIVITY IN 1984, BUT EXTENSIVE NETWORK OF DRILL ROADS FROM 1970'S
