MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Development): MINED INTERMITTENTLY FROM 1880'S TO 1945. IN 1984, RECENT ROTARY DRILL HOLES NOTED NEAR CANYON MOUTH. DOUBTFUL ANY ORE PRODUCED FROM HERE.
Comment (Production): PRODUCTION WAS REPORTED FROM THE VALMY MINE FROM 341 TONS OF ORE YIELDING $9626. THE VALMY MINE WAS EITHER AT THE ALDRICH MINE LOCATION OR THE SILVER LEAD MINE 1/2 MILE S OF ALDRICH. IN 1910, SEVERAL CAR LOADS OF PB AG ORE AVERAGING $38.90/TON WERE SHIPPED. BEFORE 1936 AND AFTER 1910 1 CAR OF ORE PRODUCED, WORTH $32/TON, 42 OZ AG& REMAINDER IN PB.
Comment (Location): ALONG CHERRY CREEK; PREVIOUS QUAD DESIGNATION = CHINA MOUNTAIN (1965) 1:24000
Comment (Deposit): NO STRUCTURE OR ORE MINERALS COULD BE OBSERVED AT THE SITE. A DUMP 400 M NNW IS VERY RED WITH GOSSAN. THESE PROPER-TIES APPEAR TO BE VERY SIMILAR TO THOSE NORTH OF CHERRY CREEK -CANYON (LAND ROVER CLAIMS). IT IS DOUBTFUL THAT ANY ORE, ESPEC-IALLY SULFIDE ORE, WAS PRODUCED HERE (SEE JOHNSON, 1977). FRAG-MENTS OF BARITE WERE SEEN IN FLOAT.
Comment (Workings): SHAFT, TUNNELS, DRIFTS. IN 1984, 2 ADITS WITH SMALL, OVERGROWN DUMPS, RECENT ROTARY DRILL HOLES NOTED NEAR CANYON MOUTH; ADITS CAVED
Comment (Deposit): SILVER-LEAD ORE WAS DISCOVERED IN THE DISTRICT IN THE 1880'S AND INTERMITTENTLY MINED TO 1945. THE PROPERTY WAS SURVEYED ALONG CHERRY CREEK IN THE 1920'S AS THE SOLID METAL & FINANCE CLAIMS. THE MINE IS DEVELOPED BY A SHAFT, CROSSCUT TUNNEL, AND DRIFTS TO INTERSECT THE ORE DEPOSIT AT ABOUT 500 FEET BELOW THE SURFACE ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT; 3 FIELD OBSERV
Comment (Deposit): Discovery Year: 1880'S
Comment (Geology): THE AG-PB ORE OCCURS IN LENTICULAR REPLACEMENT DEPOSITS IN LIMESTONE ALONG A FAULT WHICH DIPS 60-70 DEGREES WEST. THE VOLCANICLASTIC PERMIAN KOIPATO GROUP IS EXPOSED ON THE WEST SIDE, WHILE LIMESTONES AND DOLOMITES OF THE PRIDA, AUGUSTA, AND CANE SPRING FORMATIONS ARE ON THE EAST. VEINS AVERAGE ABOUT 3 FEET IN WIDTH
