Comments

Comment (Development): DISCOVERED IN 1863 AND MINED INTERMITTENTLY EVER SINCE. MAIN AREA OF CAMP IS A LABYRINTH OF ROADS AND DRILL SITES BY AMERICAN COPPER AND NICKEL ALL WITHIN THE LAST FEW YEARS, ALTHOUGH ACTIVITY WAS TEMPORARILY HALTED AT TIME OF EXAMINATION IN 1984. 14 CLAIMS.

Comment (Deposit): TRIASSIC SEDIMENTS HAVE BEEN INTRUDED BY LARGE MASSES OF BULL QUARTZ FROM GRANITIC SOURCES WHICH ALSO OUTCROP WITHIN THE AREA OF THE VICKSBURG SITE. SAMPLE 2947 IS FROM AN APLITE DIKE AND BRECCIATED VEIN NORTH OF THE VICKSBURG SITE.; MODEL NAME COULD ALSO BE: POLYMETALLIC VEINS.

Comment (Workings): MOST OF THE OLDER WORKINGS ARE EITHER FLOODED OR INACCESSIBLE AND MANY HAVE BEEN BULLDOZED OVER BY ROAD AND DRILL SITE CONSTRUCTION.

Comment (Geology): VICKSBURG VEIN LIES 1100 FT. N OF OUTCROPS OF THE ASHDOWN VEIN; 3 PARALLEL VEINS, THE LARGEST AND MOST PRODUCTIVE OF WHICH IS THE 12-FT WIDE NO 1 VEIN. THE NO. 2 AND NO. 3 VEINS ARE EACH ABOUT 4 FT. WIDE.

Comment (Deposit): VICKSBURG GROUP OF 14 MINING CLAIMS ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT; 3 FIELD OBSERV

Comment (Location): 2 MILES S. OF DEFENSE MINE, ADJOINING ASHDOWN MINE
